HCC’s Military Education Programs Office opens doors to careers through scholarships
Jul 23, 2025
Houston Community College (HCC) is committed to empowering students through transformative educational opportunities that prepare them for high-demand careers in both civilian and military sectors. The HCC Military Education Program Office administers several premier initiatives designed to support academic success while reducing financial barriers.
A key initiative is the VICEROY (Virtual Institute for Cyber and Electromagnetic Spectrum Research and Employ) Scholars Program, which offers up to $12,500 in funding for students who complete targeted certifications and language courses. The program prepares participants for cybersecurity roles within the Department of Defense, whether as civilian or uniformed professionals.
Nursing students may benefit from the Health Professions Scholarship Program, which covers full tuition and provides a monthly stipend of $2,700. In exchange, recipients commit to a one-year service obligation per year of scholarship support, gaining real-world experience while serving in military healthcare roles.
HCC also supports students pursuing engineering and technical careers through the Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate Program (NUPOC) and the Civil Engineer Officer Candidate Program (CEOCP) Program. NUPOC offers a $30,000 signing bonus and a $4,500 monthly stipend for qualified students in STEM fields, while CEOCP participants receive an average stipend of $3,500 along with tuition support. These programs provide pathways to leadership positions in the U.S. Navy.
By participating in these opportunities, students can graduate with little to no debt, positioning themselves for success in critical national security and public service roles.
