HCC trustees appointed Patterson by unanimous vote at a special meeting of the board Wednesday, Feb. 5. Trustee Jefferson Patterson was officially sworn in immediately following the appointment.

Trustee Patterson, founder of a premier design firm specializing in luxury residential, commercial, and construction design, will fill the unexpired term, which ends December 31, 2025. The trustee position in District II is up for election in November 2025.

In congratulating Trustee Patterson, Board Chair Eva Loredo noted that the new trustee is joining the board at a time of great momentum. “HCC is headed in the right direction,” the Chair said. “There are a number of initiatives we are targeting, and we are elated to have full Board representation with the appointment in District II. We are excited about the qualities Trustee Patterson brings to the board, and we are looking forward to working together as a board.

“Many wonderful individuals expressed interest in this open position,” the Chair noted. “We are grateful to each of them for their interest. We are thankful Trustee Patterson has accepted our invitation and joined the board.”

The HCC Board of Trustees is the official governing body of the college composed of nine members who are elected from single-member districts and who serve without remuneration. Members are elected to staggered six-year terms.

“I am deeply honored to be appointed to the Houston Community College Board of Trustees for District II,” Trustee Patterson said. “As a proud product of HCC, I have witnessed first-hand the institution’s commitment to excellence and its pivotal role in shaping the futures of countless students. HCC has long been a trailblazer in providing high-quality, accessible education, and I am eager to contribute to its continued success. Serving in this capacity is both a privilege and a responsibility, and I look forward to advocating for the needs of our students, faculty, and community while ensuring that HCC remains a leader in innovation, workforce development, and academic achievement.”

“The people of District II will be well represented by Trustee Patterson,” said HCC Chancellor Margaret Ford Fisher, Ed.D. “She is eager to get to work with us to improve the services and opportunities HCC can provide the neighborhoods and communities on our northeast side. I look forward to working with her in the months to come.”
